Gentry SERVE Event – April 2021

This past Saturday, about 20 members of Gentry Service Group along with some family members and our company chaplain, jumped in to our FIRST SERVE EVENT SINCE COVID to help the residents of the Independent Village at Black Mountain Home for Children. This section of the home prepares youth for post-group home life where they have an apartment and a part time job. It was our pleasure to work with some of the folks there spreading fresh mulch in the plant beds, paint and stain picnic tables, power-wash, cut down trees and refurbish their volley ball courts. We are so thankful to be able to support the wonderful work the Black Mountain Home for Children does for our community.

Children’s Christmas Drive at Black Mountain Home for Children, Youth & Families

Our employees rallied together to get each kid items from their wish list so that they would all have a wonderful Christmas. We could not be more appreciative of the blessings that we have been given to continue our ministry for the 2021 year!

We would also like to thank all the private individual sponsors and donors that contributed this year to fighting hunger.

Building Homes in Guatemala

Seven Team Members from Gentry Heating & Cooling traveled to Guatemala in April 2019 and built 2 homes and 9 wood burning stoves for underprivileged local residents. They were also able to minister to nearly 500 people in Santa Maria de Jesus and the surrounding villages by providing shelter, food, clothing and personal touch. The team enjoys these trips for not only giving back to those in need, but also for their own personal spiritual growth. Trips are planned each year and if you would like to learn more about them, or help on any future missions please reach out to Mr. Gentry (duane@gentryservice.com or 828-274-2520 x233).

Mix 96.5 Christmas is for Kids

Every year our Gentry Team bands together to sponsor children that are either in sheltered, foster or orphaned situations. This year we were happy to partner with local radio station’s Mix 96.5 Christmas is for Kids – an annual event that partners with local agencies to ensure that displaced, foster or orphaned children get their Christmas wishes granted. This year we “adopted” 10 such children and everyone in the company contributed in order that every Christmas wish was granted.

Duane Gentry, our company President, stated:
“I am thankful to God for such a wonderful group of people that I get to work with every day. The gifts we gave to 10 orphans this Christmas were given by them – many of whom have difficultly providing gifts for their own families. Matthew 5:16 “…Let your light shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father which is in heaven”. Thank you Gentry Family for caring for others!”
